Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole

This is another Pinterest recipe. It reminded me of summer and since the weather here is anything but summery I decided to make it.

2 pounds lean ground beef (browned and drained)
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup (10 oz)
1 can condensed cheddar cheese soup (10 oz)
1 package frozen, crinkle-cut fries (20 oz)
Desired hamburger toppings (ketchup, pickles, mustard and chopped tomato)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix mushroom and cheddar cheese soup in a small bowl.

Spread cooked ground beef on bottom of 9x13 baking dish.

Spread soup mix over top of meat.

Place french fries on top. Cook at 350 for 45-55 minutes or until fries are golden.

I think next time I will use smaller fries, maybe the shoe sting ones. The crinkle ones were still kind of
soggy-ish and I like crispy fries.  Marley only ate the meat. She's been on a meat only kick lately. Silly girl!

  1. Could this have possibly been better if the meat & mushroom soup are blended, then pre-bake the fries, then add them to the pan and pour the cheddar soup over the fries and bake it that way? OR...Bake the fries normally, then make the hamburger/soup mix and serve it over the fries, kind of like chili-cheese fries are served?? Maybe the fries would remain less soggy for you. It's just a suggestion. :-)

    1. Paula, thanks for the suggestions. I'm sure either way would taste great. I think I will try pouring them over the fries next time.

  3. Just wondering...did you mean cream of mushroom soup instead of golden mushroom soup? In the pic it shows cream of mushroom soup. And maybe sprinkling shredded cheese over the top would be good!
